So I need to replace the o2 sensors on my matrix and I found some parts on rockauto. I noticed that some sensors say for FWD, AWD, or rear brakes discs, drums..
my car is FWD with drums on the back. I was looking at a sensor for rear discs. It's a lot cheaper than if I bought the one for rear drums... Do I have to buy the exact one? I personally don't see that it would matter, but correct me if I am wrong. Thanks)

You wouldn't think it would matter on drum brakes. I was thinking about ABS but you don't have that right? I would call the dealership and ask them for the part numbers for your vehicle. They sell Denso so you can compare......good luck.

The up stream sensor (Bank 1 sensor 1) and down stream sensor (Bank 1 sensor 2) is a different sensor. The up stream one is a air fuel sensor and is much more complex that is why it usually cost more. With that said you can also search for the same sensor on amazon, autozone and oem toyota parts site to ensure that you are getting the correct sensor for your car.

I'll say it again. Don't take chances, buy it once, install it once. If you want to want to know the answer, you have to find out yourself. Take a chance, buy both of them, potentially install it twice, return the unneeded sensor.
