Hello, somewhat new to forums so I don't really know what I'm doing. Just acquired a 1993 Toyota T100 with the 3.0L, automatic tranny, but only half-ton (according to the VIN).
So far I've replaced the passenger exterior door handle, replaced plugs and wires, and fixed a couple vacuum leaks.

I have been browsing the forum for a couple days, and found a lot of good information. The thread about the door latch replacement from a 1999 4Runner was awesome, and something that I plan to do because I'm tired of slamming my doors.
Anyway, guess that's my introduction. Hello.

Hey everyone, Dan here. New T100 owner since Nov 2018. Purchased a White 96 SR5 4WD from the original owner with 125k miles. Since then, I've done the following:
-Valve Cover Gaskets
-Spark plugs and wires
-Brake Fluid Exchange
-Front and rear differential fluid exchange
-Transfer Case fluid exchange
-Transmission flush
-Radiator replaced
-Thermostat
-Fuel Filter replaced
-Bilstein 4600 shocks
-Cyl 2,4,6 fuel injectors replaced (Received a P0304 and troubleshooted everything. Cyl 4 fuel injector was bad after checking the resistance on it so replaced all the right side injectors.)
-MAF, throttle body and IAC valve cleaned and new gaskets
-K&N Air filter
-Greased all points
-Replaced front CV axles, new bearings, gaskets, etc
-Replaced both 02 sensors
-Oil changes
-Alignment every oil change (lifetime alignment with Firestone)
-Put a camper shell on it
-The original owner replaced the timing belt at 55k so the timing belt is next.

I'm an active duty Marine Gunner (Infantry Weapons Officer) and the truck serves as my daily driver. I drive all over the Camp Pendleton jeep trails so having a new truck is not ideal. Yes, there are some pretty nice trails for the off-road enthusiast. Has had about three to four car washes since I've purchased it. There's no rust as it's a California truck and is in pretty great shape. The interior is perfect with no tears or rips. The exterior has a couple of minor dents.

I've been a Toyota owner since 2003. I have previously owned a 2001 Tacoma and 2004 Camry. I now have a 2019 4Runner TRD Pro and a 1986 4Runner SR5 Turbo that I also purchased from the original owner and is in immaculate shape. It's garaged kept.

Hi folks! I'm Cullum, living in Tennessee. I've owned my T100 for about 4 years now I believe. I've actually had an account on here for a few years, but practically never actually contributed, so I've decided to get involved.

98' T100 - Ext Cab - SR5 - 5 spd.
Bought it with 211,000 miles - extremely straight and no rust.
Intent of the vehicle is to use it as an my adventure truck.
I initially put 33's on it with a small lift, but quickly realized the downfalls of the a ball joint lift on these trucks.
Decided to SAS the truck - Completed it in 2017. Dana 44 up front and a 14 bolt in the rear (Rear is an overkill, but got the axles as a package deal).
I've put just over 11,000 miles on the truck since the SAS and loving it.
The truck currently has 236,000 miles and running like a champ.

Hello! I'm Stretch and I'm from PA. I am new to forums but I just bought my 96' T100 last fall from a Texan and have enjoyed poking around on here for information. It's a Black 4 cylinder, 2WD Manual Transmission and it's speedometer stopped working before I got it at 240k miles. I've recently had the starter and transmission replaced and I am loving this truck. I am young and have been hoping to use this truck to gain some mechanical know-how, so much space in the engine bay, underneath, and relatively affordable parts. It's been good to learn on so far and I hope to keep on learning!

Greetings! I’ve actually been a lurker on this forum for several years. First post here. Have gotten tons of great info and ideas from this forum. Have had my T for about 6-7 years. Bought my 95 x-cab 4WD SR-5 with 172,000. Currently has about 188,000. It has always been a second vehicle, and a couple of years ago became a third behind my 2013 Tundra CM Platinum. Have a kid who just turned 16 so thought it would be fun to refresh the T100 with him. Have been thinking about it for a while, and when Covid hit and there was nothing else to to, ta-da!

I don’t know why, but I started documenting the build on another forum that doesn’t have nearly he traffic in the T100 section as this one. Will be posting up the build in this forum soon.

BTW, Bam, any chance you could update the photo links in the A/C thread? I’ve been very interested in that one lately, wanting to take my squirrel cage apart. Truck fogs up badly when it’s raining, blows debris into the cab often when I crank the blower up, and my vent cover below the windshield was choked up bad with fir needles until I just recently took it off and cleaned it all out. I suspect it’s as much of a mess in there as yours was.

Welcome back to the forums! :)

I'll have to see if I can find any of my old piccies although it will kinda hard. I might have to reshoot the whole lot of them. ;)

There's only 3 screws that hold the blower motor in place. Pull the blower motor connector off (pinch and pull) and then remove the 3 screws (10mm socket). To alleviate the connector issue, I ended up making some pig tails, soldering my crimp connectors onto the new blower motor, and used a quick release connector to make the connection to the wiring harness. I usually keep my blower motor on all the time when I'm driving and I haven't had the connection issues that plague the blower motor systems of today. I did notice that the RAV4 had the same blower motor that we have and they used bigger gauge wiring which may have helped a little but didn't solve the issue at all. The wiring that came with my used RAV4 blower motor was just as fried as our wiring was. ;)

Since I've moved to The Woodlands, there are a lot of pine trees here which the pine needles are the bane of my existence. I'm sure my cowl is full of those suckers now as well as the drain section behind the front wheel well covers. I'm gonna need to pull those panels out and clean out the mess back there before the organic material starts breaking down and creating a rust area. ;)

New member. New T100 owner. I inherited this truck from my wife's cousin. He was the only owner. 1993, only 125,000 miles, no rust except rear bumper but body is pretty dented up. Unfortunately he was bad to drink the last few years. Oh yeh, it has some bullet holes where he came home to someone robbing his house. Big problem was truck was sitting for almost 3 years before I got it. Surprisingly it started and I drove it home which was luckily not very far (no brakes). So far I have drained and replaced gas, new gas filter, new master cylinder, new plugs, distributer cap, and most of the vacuum hoses. Runs fair right now. I will be posting a new thread shortly, looking for some help as I try to bring her back.

Hi,

Proud owner of a 95 RWD T-100.

It has the 4 cyl, no a/c, manual windows, manual mirrors, no vanity mirror, 5 speed, probably the least optioned vehicle I have ever seen in my life...and I've been driving since 1975! I bought it 8 years ago for $1,500 from the original owner. I have 145,000 miles on it. Truck looks exactly like Big Glens except for the absence of his bullet holes.

I live in Upstate NY but luckily the truck has never been driven in winter. Still, it has developed some bad rust around the rear wheel wells and the rear bumper/trailer ball fitting is rotted out. Frame is perfect.

I recently bought a 2008 Ranger, (rwd, auto/AC...short box) just in case the T-100 were to go on me but after A/B'ing the two I'm flipping the Ranger. Always wanted a Ranger, never drove one till now. I find the T-100 is superior in every way.

I've used it like a truck. Hauled everything you can think of and lent it to many friends to haul stuff. Has the 8' box. Funny a coworker has a Raptor...$60,000 truck. He asked to borrow mine....needed to move something that would not fit in his. He came back with a smile and said "whenever you're ready to sell it".

A elderly neighbor backed her car into the box about 4 years ago behind the rear driver side wheel. She was mortified, I chuckled and told her it looked better now. Frankly I don't think I've washed it more than once and that was only because there was something in the bed that stunk to high heaven. I recently painted about 80' of quarter round before installing and laid the wet pieces over the bed to dry...so now the top of the bed looks like a zebra. Inside the cab is immaculate however!

Was super lucky to find a nice replacement for the rusted out tailgate in Watkins Glen for $150 last year...same color too!

My wife is slightly embarrassed by it, ( I wear a suit to work every day and my daily drive is a 2019 Volvo S-90), but she gets it...and me. My 15 year old daughter is mortified by it. I don't always bring it home. But it's my go to vehicle for the 2.5 hour trip to our camp in the ADK's..not always fun in 90 degree temps but hey..there's a cool lake and cold beer at the end of that drive. The truck drives flawlessly on the highway and around town.

So the point is, it's not a show truck or an off road monster.

Why the long post? Frankly I had almost given up on it. It looks bad. The temps are friggin upper 80's low 90's here the past few weeks and the same until mid next week and even though we've been business casual since we opened up post Covid shut down ..it's hot in the darned thing without A/C. I'm 61. Dammet I deserve better:confused:

But when I pulled into work Friday with it I was asked..."going up to camp today?" by a woman I've seen around the building but had never met. So I guess it has become a part of me. We did not go to camp this weekend but I went to the Lowes/Home Depots at least 6 times for lumber, or mulch or this or that. Dropped off a load of brush/trees to the local compost dump. Wife didn't complain about the looks when she volunteered me to deliver a dresser to a friends daughter later today.

So.....shipping it off next week to get a cheap bondo/paint fix for the rear box rust...bang out the dent from the neighbor. I'll buff out the rest

Of course as soon as I do that the engine will blow or I'll lose the clutch.

At that point, full press to restore!

Glad I found these forums. I'm sure Ill need it!

I picked up a '96 T100 SR5 4x4 with an automatic transmission a few weeks ago. 214,000 on the odometer, about 100,000 since the previous owner replaced the head gasket and rebuilt the top end.

Here's my pup, Rosie, sitting in the front seat during the first fill up:

I already changed the air filter, oil, spark plugs, wires and coils before I got it smogged. Next up is the timing belt/water pump, axles, rest of the fluids and a new set of tires!

I like the truck and the fact that someone else has a T100 to enjoy. I commend the care and maintenance you are performing on it as well. Take care of her and she will be good to you. Again nice purchase. Good luck with her.

hey! my names danny. im a car guy "in training".

i inherited a '98 3.4L T-100 from my brother, who inherited it from our grandfather when he was in high school. the T has been in our family for 17+ years, 265,000 miles on it as we speak. my brother didnt take care of this truck at all, so im having to back pedal to fix a lot of his undoings.

so far i have replaced/fixed:
  • timing belt
  • tensioners
  • water pump
  • crank and cam seals
  • spark plugs
  • new tires
  • fuel pump
  • air filter

i currently have a check engine light on (EVAP canister), the suspension is garbage, theres a huge dent in the drivers side on top of the gas cap, and i just recently developed a exhaust problem, but this truck is finally getting the TLC it needs and deserves! 😄
