Hi all, my '04 Solara doesn't come with courtesy lights, so I'm planning to install some LED strips (one on each door). Should I connect them to the dome light wires? How can I find it?

Thank you.

Does your dome light not work when you open the door? The car is not that large and it is not a luxury car so that is why. Normally the dome light is sufficient to light the entire interior to see to get in and out. Might want to try an LED bulb in your dome light if you need more light. Solara is a Toyota Camry not a Lexus or Rolls Royce. Courtsey lights are kind of gimicky and usually not very effective in most situation or they are so bright you lose your night vision. They seldom age well in most cars that have them as the plastic yellows and bulbs burn out. If you have night vision problems that affect your ability to get into the car under normal factory lighting it might not be safe for you to drive at night time! I do not need my glasses to drive but at night time they enhance my ability to read the signs so I wear them. Maybe you need to see an optometrist just to make sure your eye sight is ok.

If you do a good job solder your connections use shrink tubing than just use the same pin switches the dome light uses and go right to the battery. Since you car only has 2 doors and those are front doors it should be easy to use the same conduit/loom and such that is already in the doors for the power windows and door locks! Good luck!
