i dont believe a pre 94 has a speed limiter, at least the 4cyl. since teh OP has a 97 im not to sure, but i wouldnt want to go faster then that in a near stock camry anyways. im impressed the 4cyl can get the fast
Not sure if this helps or not, but I hit the speed limiter at 116 in my camry. It has the 4 Cylinder engine.
I haven't had the guts to hit the limiter on the Camaro yet. That has been confirmed to be set at 155mph, and the reason for that is that it comes with Z rated tires from the factory.
well if our cars did have one and the way toyota does things is your going to need to modify the speed sensor signal to the ecu, or use a different ecu......
the smt6 has a feature to do that apparently (pulse width manipulation)
Refer to Toysrme's post (I linked it a few posts back).
I think it stops around 2002~, but it would be likely that anything past there (i.e. OBD2) would have the 139 mph limiter .
anyways....just because there are not speed limits on very few sections of the autobahns doesnt mean you should take your camry to its safety limits. be safe! they had sport cars in mind for those sections, not family sedans =)
Is it really true that a 1993 V6 Camry like mine can do approx. 135-140 MPH? Not that I would ever do that in a 17 year old car! That is kinda scary......
Best mod for a Gen 3 would be a tie between 5-speed swap, and toysrme's "free/cheap mod series" (specifically, the 3vz leaning & timing advance that puts us on par with a 1mz in power, with a nicer powerband, imo)
^ Bull. TRD/Whiteline rear sway bar. Come on. You have to agree. :naughty:
