So yeah - the SBC is in saaaaaaaaaaaaad shape now (basically on a boat trailer with no parts, a few bullet holes in it from a litle country target pracitce... the body was in bad shape anyways from the accident and previous use etc., and some broken glass just because ... don't ask)
I needed a new car - something that would last me for a while, but be something I could love like I have camry's
I looked into Evo's - my buddy was in China for the summer and let me test drive his for a while... he had it up to ~300whp and it was a very fun car. Super fast - looked great etc. but I was just not a big fan of mitsubishi/evo quality and warranty dealings. Plus I am not really an evo person
Then I was looking into GS/LS's. They are baller, I could go super VIP - and drive them into the ground with reliability... Then the price tags for the dope ones kinda got to me. Also for VIP I would have to slam it and kit it - and I would tear it up on the DD... and a black car for a DD is just dangerous
So I wanted something toyota, RWD, and greatly reliable/modable. My boss has a 1st gen gs300 he put a 2JZGTE into... Another good local friend has a 96 SC300 he is swapping a 2JZGTE into with a big single/AEM/HKS mani/HKS WG etc. So what could I get to keep up?
Picked up an 03 IS300. It is Silver with the black escaine - 5speed with LSD - HID's - 6disc CD - and only 25,000 miles (I STILL HAVE FACTORY WARRANTY FOR ONCE!)
Car is a blast to drive, and I already have some toys on the way/sitting at the house to put on including
- cusco upper front A arms
- cusco upper trunk bar and v bar
- cusco rear trunk bar
- cusco front and rear sway bars
- tokico illumia 5 way adjustables
- tanabe GF210 Springs
- Apex-i N1 Catback Exhaust
- Altezza grill
- Altezza rear badge
- removal of pinstripes (they are painted on... YUCK!)
- wald front lip
- wald side skirts
- l tuned/carson rear lip
I am trying to decide on either some staggered 18" SSR professors or work emotions with 255/35 rears and 225/40 fronts
after that - I will just be driving the car for a while, with just a couple things here and there. Lots of people have asked me if I plan to turbo it. In the future YES, what kinda, dunno? I will probably just turbo the stock motor, try and make around 300/350whp and call it a day. I love this car and I don't want it to turn as unreliable as my last car was. The goal here is driving 365 days a year, no worries about go 100 or 1000 miles
