Ive had my 23MM rear sway bar installed in the car forever with no problems at all, untill now. Heard a loud bang while cornering followed by a series of small bangs when ever i go over bumps. Looked under the car and the plate that the bar bolts up to just gave and snapped right off. So now its just floping around smacking the undercarrage. Looks like the bar is just a little too much for the frame to handle. Will post pics up once i get it up in the air at work tomarro. Going to have to take the sway bar out and drive it without one untill i can bring it into the dealer with the factory bar sitting in my back seat. Wish me luck...this sounds like it may be expensive...

Wow. That's so bad.

You're an extremely spirited driver huh.

I was going to get the 23mm but might think about the 19, but I still have to stock SE one which is spaghetti noodles compared to the 23mm UR RSB.

Are just going to replace the bar and put back on the stock one or what's going to happen?

ill find out more when i get into work tomarro and get it up in the air. Its where the sway bar actually bolts up to that snapped. The actual piece under the car.

Oh hell my TRD bar snapped the mounting brackets too... i just replaced both sides and carried on my merry way :)

Mine made loud bangs and booms etc everytime hit a crack in the road... lol

I forgot how much it was to replace both sides..but it wasn't that expensive.

Im not talking about the brackets that the RSB comes with...im talking about where the brackets bolt up to on the frame of the car...I wish it were that easy. Gonna take a closer look at work tomarro.

Here's the colpret. Broke right at the welds. Looks like it bolts up to the frame so hopefully I can either get one fabed. Or find a replacement. Called Toyota from work and it doesn't look like that part is available by itself.

That is exactly what mine looked like. Yes i went to the dealer and they got the replacement parts and did the install for me.

It has held up just fine, i have gone on the track since with no problems.

I had both sides done at the sametime just to avoid the other side breaking late on down the road. Forget how much it was, but Canadian pricing would different anyway, everything up here is more expensive.

4mm really isn't that much of a difference.

It probably broke from beating the crap out of the car around corners etc... but parts wear out over time, rust etc. It could break with your OEM swaybar.

Yeah punks I'm Doing both of mine as soon as the parts get in. I work at a shop so I got the parts at wholesale from the dealer 80 bucks for both. And also I dont pay labor because I'll be doing the work myself.

yeah i did...haha. Being that im able to get the brackets so cheap at wholesale prices, and that it took over 60K miles for it to give i figured id just put it back in and be a little easier on the car. i couldnt take driving with no swaybar...was terrible.

Could you tell us the name and part # of those parts so if anyone else has that problem they can source the parts easier?

I'm glad that you were able to fix it so easily. It's definitely comforting that you can replace those parts that easy.

Exactly why I took mine out. Was thinking about possibly beefing up the part in question or have my friend weld me up a custom one. But by doing that instead of that piece being the weakest link somthing else would be. And I didn't want to find out what.

I had asked around here before deciding on the 19 or 23. Final decision was based on my trusted mechanics advice to stay 19mm, otherwise he was suggesting a reinforcement. I guess it was about this exact issue that has arisen from the 23mm.
Thanks much for the part # for future reference
