Are there tow hook mountings?

 

There's none. No threaded receivers.

2021 Missing Front Tow Hook Receiving Thread

I just purchased the 2021 XLE today and started looking into all the knocks and crannies. I popped out the front bumper tow hook covers am seeing no threaded receivers inside. Anyone know anything about this?

Is our vehicle missing something?

I opened the cargo box in the trunk area to see what was there. There’s an empty spot that looks like it should have something there. I’d appreciate anyone who could check theirs and let me know if we are missing an item. Thanks in advance !

Thank you to all. After reading what you wrote and the recommended reading, I guess it’s “normal” not having them.

 

I got some coming from Ebay by the end of this week 5/6/21... They are fake, and def wouldn't tow with them but... I think they will look good.

 

Interesting in the 2020 owner's manual (page 457), it shows slots to hook the car to a flat bed, however it does not mention how to get a disabled highlander on a flatbed.

It's probably best to have the tow hitch installed and get a D-ring receiver for the flatbed winch

Oh great. Well that’s concerning.

They will just hook to whatever they have to or in the case of the smart tow guys, hook to what will likely be the control arm as there should be holes for the hooks.

Hopefully I never need to be towed or a flatbed.

 

When I installed towing hitch there was a mentioning of the towing hook removal if installed. So at least rear one is available as an additional option from Toyota.

 

The "tow hook" is actually a "transport hook" as these are used for JP built vehicles and not US. Even the front tow hook or eyelet can be a JP only thing due to different bumper covers and supports.
