Clean Throttle Body & Mass Air Flow Sensor
- Park on relatively even ground
- Key ON, Engine ON for a couple of seconds
- Key OFF
- Remove dipstick
- Clean dipstick
- Insert dipstick
- Remove dipstick
- Check dipstick
- Clean dipstick
- Insert dipstick
- Done!
Checking Automatic Transmission Fluid Dipstick
- Go on a long drive
- Park on relatively even ground
- Key ON, Engine ON
- Remove dipstick
- Clean dipstick
- Insert dipstick
- Remove dipstick
- Check dipstick
- Clean dipstick
- Insert dipstick
- Repeat steps 1 - 10 or 2 - 10 until satisfied
- Done!
Clean Throttle Body & Mass Air Flow Sensor
- Buy mass air flow sensor (MAF) cleaner, throttle body (TB) cleaner, cloth, and a toothbrush
- Key OFF
- Remove MAF
- Spray MAF cleaner into MAF
- Allow MAF to dry
- Remove intake hose's needed to reach TB
- Have someone assist you or place an heavy object on the accelerator pedal
- This will actuate the butterfly valve open to allow
- Spray TB cleaner into TB
- Do NOT spray too much TB cleaner or you could cause damage to your engine
- Brush & wipe throttle body
- Reinstall
- Unhook battery for more than 90 seconds
- Attempt to start the vehicle
- Attempt to start the vehicle again
- Let vehicle sit at idle
- Take vehicle for test drive
- Done!
- Park on relatively even ground
- Attach no-spill coolant funnel
- Fill funnel to half-full
- Make sure HVAC/Heat/Fan is OFF
- Key ON, Engine ON
- Watch the coolant in the funnel
- Add coolant as needed
- Watch for bubbles
- Use a steering wheel lock, stick, 2x4, some sort of long or heavy object and use it to depress the accelerator pedal and give the engine some load (2000rpm - 3000rpm is what I go for)
- Add coolant as needed
- Watch for bubbles
- Repeat steps 10 - 11 until satisfied
- Wait for fan to turn on
- Release the accelerator pedal
- Repeat steps 10 - 11 until satisfied
- Wait for fan to turn on
- Done!
- Check codes
- Note the codes down
- Clear the codes
- Go on a nice and long drive to get the catalytic converter hot
- Have more than 1/4 fuel and less than 3/4 in the fuel tank to let the EVAP run its test over night (or more than five hours)
- Check codes
- Check readiness monitors
- Done!

- Higher idle
