Need more info!

 

Well I plug in some Christmas lights around the exterior of my bed and when the truck is in neutral the lights come on once I put it to drive the lights go off

 

Have you looked at an electrical wiring diagram?

Are you using the onboard 110v inverter?

 

Don't know anything about that is that somewhere located or just something extra you have to purchase have hooked up to the truck

 

I believe it's in the bed of the truck on the passenger side towards the tail gate. Depending on your trim you purchased, it was either a option or standard.

Edit : what year is your tacoma? This way, we can edit your thread title and move it to the tacoma or tundra forum for more help.

 

I recommend taking it to a shop before you potentially damage the electrical system.

 

Yeah I know where outlet is I stated earlier I plug in some Christmas lights to drive around in a car show and they all lit up when my truck was in park but when I start to drive the lights go out

 

I know that some of the Xmas light plugs aren't the tightest when using a socket. It is likely loose enough to lose contact.

But, you should look at the wiring diagram to know how it gets powered. There's likely a relay switch that doesn't allow for use of the outlet while in motion. Think of it as a lockout for video on your head unit.

 

Yeah I was thinking also that it might be a safety issue about being a distraction I think basically it's just used for stationary sayings like an appliance a little cooler or a little plug in smoker or something like that but I want to thank everybody that put in there their thoughts into this
