A Mazda 3 falls in love with a Toyota Prius after a night on the town passing gas, having dinner at the local Shell station and getting a little racy on the interstate. They make out along a beautiful parking lot by the beach. "Let's Get It On" plays on their sound systems, and sometime in the future they had a love child... Belta. But little did Prius know that 3 was having an affair with his overweight sister, 5.

^I was just going to say that the Belta looked like a 3 mixed with some Prius styling, but things got a little out of hand. Please forgive me.

Just so you know, Toyota had that type of grill on a lot of their Euro and JDM models before Mazda ever did, so if anyone is copying anyone here, it's Mazda copying Toyota. Since none of these models ever came to North American shores, most people are led to believe that type of grill is a "Mazda thing".

Getting back on topic, it looks really nice, definitely more upscale than the outgoing Echo sedan. I don't like that Euro style Toyota grill, I wish the black Toyota grill was on it instead.

Otherwise, looks really good, can't wait to see official pics of the interior and the rear.

It seems to be almost as good as the current Corolla, which is getting redesigned, and should move more upscale to differentiate itself with the Yaris sedan.

The United States will be getting a 4-Door Yaris and a 3-Door Yaris. The 5-Door Yaris will not be sold in the USA. I hope the 4-Door would be closer to the size of the Corolla. I hope the 2007 Corolla will be bigger and have I4 w/ 150hp (please) and an optional I4 w/ 200hp (for XRS) I hope 2007 Camry will have I4 w/ 180hp (would be nice) and an optional V6 w/ 260hp. (as much as TL Type-S) Then the Avalon have V6 w/ 280 hp (w/ new ratings) IS 300 instead of IS 250 (245hp for a subcompact would be quick) IS 350 w/ 320 hp (new rating not 306) I want the GS to be the same as IS. ES w/ 300hp? (has advantage over Avalon but weakness against GS)

I didn't know US was also getting Yaris Sedan......I thought only 3dr.

THe Yaris SEdan definitely approaches the size of a Corolla. And its interior is as nice as the new Yaris hatch. Nice carpet, nice IP, nice seats, nice steering wheel etc. No more plastic-ky look to the interior. Also, the exterior is very nice too w/ a nice strip of chrome on the luggage door.

New Corolla will likely stick with 1ZZ motor due to great fuel economy. Perhaps bump up the hp a bit as a marketing thing. The 2AZ motor will power the XRS line and make less hp, but more torque then the current XRS's. expect the 2GR V6 in the camry making that 250-270hp. I am unsure about the new 4cycl.

Looks like an Echo, Corolla, Prius and Yaris had some freaky childern.
That's for sure.
I would love to see this and the hatchback in person when it comes to the U.S. It will be interesting how the new sedan will hold up against the ECHO sedan, as far as comparisons. Like how they improved the car. I wonder if the sedan will weigh just as much as the hatch or about the same. I read that GENERALLY speaking hatches are heavier than there sedan counterparts? I personally go for the hatch but I would give the sedan a look. I really hope both of these cars sell well in the U.S., I'm really pulling for them. I'm sure they will.
