Reason for asking this as we were in a discussion at work recently on this. Why would the 4runner be considered better then Rav4?
Is the 4runner considered to be more of a classier vehicle vs Rav4?
What are the features of the 4runner that are superior over the Rav4?
thanks

I would think RAV4 is a bit easier to park in tight spaces?

4runner owner - 2005 from new. 200,000 miles. Runs like a new truck. Rides great still.
Garaged.

Roads here in Nassau Bahamas are like in New York City - terrible.

4runner is a bigger vehicle. - costs more
V6 has plenty of hp (don't need a V8 in tiny Nassau)
no rust in 15 years of ownership
just installed a (third one?) starter from Amazon with LifeT warranty.
Amazon says if it fails they will send another one
original WP and alternator. WHAT?
original shocks and struts
it's a Toyota.
Don't make mistake and buy the wrong brand.

2005 4runner looks a lot like the new 2022 runners.

Thanks Toyota.

The paint all around is like new!!!!!!!

The difference between a 4runner and a Rav4 is like the difference between a F150 and an el camino.
the 4runner is a body on frame with a V6 engine mounted in front of instead of beside the transmission and a honest 4wd system. it can tow and is capable off road. a Rav4 is a tall car with available awd. a tow hitch can be added, but is really only meant for a few hundred pounds in a basket or maybe a jetski trailer. the furthest off road it should go is your back yard, or maybe a dirt road.
not hating on the Rav4 here. it is a great vehicle, and is probably what most people that buy a 4runner actually needed. I would love a Rav4 prime personally. that being said, if you will be off-roading or towing, a Rav4 isn't the vehicle for it.

It's not better, it's different.
The 4-Runner is basically a Tacoma with an enclosed bed.
It has a full frame, rather than a unibody, and is rear wheel drive, with a standard selectable 4WD mode.
Rav4 is effectively a station wagon, with improved ground clearance, and on some models, AWD, which differs from 4WD.

Each vehicle has their place in the market, and there is SOME overlap, but overall, the 4Runner is much larger, more capable off-road, but also MUCH less fuel efficient.
