The melting dashboard on the 2006 to 2012 Camry,Lexus, Avalon is been a common issue in Florida and California,Texas where their is warmer wheathe now is si starting to hit the Northeast. Toyota extended the warranty on the vehicle for 10 years not sending any notices to Toyota owners in the Northeast and no one knows about it until you start doing some research. I recently call Toyota because My 2009 Toyota Camry has a crack on the dashboard from one side to the other Also the dashboard appears to be very shiny reflecting of the windshield and blinding you. Toyota told me that the program was over because my vehicle was 10 years old, I tried to explain to them that I never got a notice and they said they couldn't help me and if the dashboard is reflecting from the windshield not to drive the vehicle because is a safety issue. I think it dosen't matter how old is the vehicle the dashboard shouldn't be melting .

:dunno:Did they send out the notices? Who knows. Are you the original order? Only you would know. Are they gonna look up each and every VIN number to find the latest owner to send them a piece of mail that they may well ignore? I sorta doubt it.:dunno:

This is a known issue. It is NOT a recall. Should it be a recall? Up to the NHTSA, Toyota, and whoever can win in court to make that call. Live with it, cover it with a dash mat, get the dash replaced, or just sell the car and never go back to Toyota. That is your own call.

Did you buy the car new or used?. Any car manufacture cannot warranty something for a lifetime. There has to be a end of life for certain parts. I lived in Southern California and Florida. 2005 Camry XLT. Never had any dashboard issues. Never used a sunshade either. Your problem with the shinny dash also could be what you use or was used to clean or protect the dash. Most products make the dash to shinny and it reflects in the windshield. Try rubbing it down with 70% alcohol to get the shine old product out and then just wipe with a clean cloth next time you wash.

You wont get anywhere with Toyota the way you are going. If you really want to pursue it get a lawyer to write you a letter demanding some type of reimbursement. You might get something you might not. Reality is they did there job.

If you bought used are you registered on the Toyota Owners Site? My brother got his letter that way after he bought from a friend.
