Ok so I am just getting into this stuff but what engines are even possible to fit in the standard engine bay. I was wondering if you could LS swap it but I’m not sure if it would fit without serious money/modifications. If I could get a list of good engines that fit that would be great. Preferably a v6 or v8 but I don’t know if it would fit. 2007 MATRIX HATCHBACK BASE.

It will be a significantly large project. Probably need a custom front and rear subframe. Plus the base has a solid axle, no subframe per se. all custom right out the gate.

Only actual swaps are 2zz ge and if you ask MWR, they may have K swap components that may be more realistic and achievable without having to spent much on custom parts.

Should I just look into getting a Toyota 86
Up to you and what your after. The 86 isn’t that much faster but is more sporty. I’d look into a Lexus GS 300 or IS 300. SC 300 or 400.

These are just my suggestions but your style may vary.

I have an Acura TL which isn’t super sporty but very comfortable. But the Acura lineup with a V6 is good too.

Depends on your end goal. I want a Matrix AWD. Not chasing power but projects and custom creations.

It’s not the economy it’s just diesel it just feel extremely unnecessary for a hatchback if I had a truck maybe but that’s just too much

I think I will start small so I started a new thread for my exhaust if you want to give a suggestion

No, 1200 ft-lb.
Also would this even fit in my matrix without modifications

If you want to keep it as a daily driver - ONLY do very small mods (such as the exhaust). The more mods you do, the more unreliable it becomes for a daily as there is always something that needs fixing/adjusting/tinkering. Such is the way of project cars.

You might want to be mindful of where you will be stationed. Most of my friends were SoCal. The patrols here are pretty aggressive when it comes to exhaust. I’d keep out of state plates as long as possible if you want to get loud.

I should be okay it’s an i-4 so it takes some effort to get that loud so I’m just gonna throw some dc sport tips on and maybe a muffler
