I hope it's not. :)
I would like to see a bit more aggressive Camry, but not too futuristic or cartoonish. Camry is a family car and Toyota should keep Camry’s design family and mid aged/mature audience oriented. New sonata for instance is much more conservative than old one and IMO it's a good thing and it will improve sonata's position in the segment.
You can’t kill two birds with a single rock; if Toyota will keep trying to make the Camry appealing to younger and more mature buyers, they may lose both. In addition to the Camry Toyota need another sportier and more extreme looking mid size car for a younger buyers and they should offer manual, turbo and coupe body to reduce competition to the minimum.

They're saying major update / refresh. I don't expect this to be a complete redesign. Just more of a facelift than Toyota typically does. So I woudln't expect much change in transmission or engine. I think they're just focused more on style & features until the complete redesign comes. I expect something as dramatic as Ford's update to its first gen Fusion sedan. Same body style, but it was a great update to the front & rear that made the car way more competitive.

I hope it's not too drastic of a change that makes my 12 look dated. Seems like I just got my 12 and I would like it to still be the new looking model lol.. Jeep did that to me. Bought my 2012 jeep in march 2012. By march 2013 they came out with the 14!! With a face lift and nice additions like led drls and stuff. Was po'ed my 12 was two yrs old in 1 year...

Same here. As soon as I bought my 12, it was like a month later the 13 was available. I was pissssssssssed! I wouldve waited and either went with the 13 or beat them up on the price of the 12. I already feel like mine is old

I'm excited to see what they do.

Why Toyota will buck convention with '15 Camry update at N.Y. show

http://www.autonews.com/article/201...OG06/140329899/why-toyota-will-buck-convention-with-15-camry-update-at-n-y-show
It’s been rumored for months and now it’s official. Toyota is updating the Camry for 2015 and will use the media glare of the New York Auto Show next month to showcase its latest mid-sized sedan.

The company said Wednesday the refreshed Camry planned for New York “will challenge conventional expectations of a mid-cycle model change,” and left it at that.

It’s unusual for an automaker to use a prime slot during press previews at a major auto show to only pitch a refreshened model.

But the Camry -- last redesigned for the 2012 model year -- has been the best-selling U.S. car for 12 years. And its grip on the top spot -- and in one of the industry’s key segments -- has slipped.

Mid-sized sedan sales rose just 1 percent last year and are off 11 percent this year through February.

The Honda Accord, Nissan Altima, Ford Fusion, Kia Optima and Mazda6 gained ground on the Camry in 2013. And the Altima edged the Camry in U.S. sales in the first two months of this year.

Camry sales in the United States have topped the 400,000 mark in each of the last two years, and Bob Carter, head of automotive operations for Toyota Motor Sales, has vowed it will remain the nation’s top-selling car in 2014.

After two months of chilled sales, Toyota this week said its March retail deliveries in the United States are running 4 percent above March 2013, in part, because of “strong momentum for Camry.”

Some people describe the current Camry as uninspired.

No doubt Toyota wants to give it more pizzazz under the glow of the Big Apple.

We’ll find out more on April 16.

I think what Toyota should do for this refresh or the next redesign for Camry is to be very aggressive and take risks to the styling of the SE model and keep the LE and XLE models conservative in styling, because if they screw up big time with the "aggressive" design it won't really affect sales because there'll still be the conservative models for customers to buy and they should make an option for SE appearance package while keeping the soft suspension of LE/XLE models for those customers that like the appearance but don't want the sporty drive and add a SE Sport package which goes all out with performance enhancements like very stiff suspension, lowered slightly and maybe revert back the gearing ratios to the 6th Gen Camry ratios so the V6 SE model can actually be a little bit more quicker and on top of the competition without having to upgrade engine power, also focusing on feedback on the steering on the SE models would be greatly appreciated, basically they could use the SE model to wow the car reviewers and rid the Camry of boring appliance image. Also instead of using their money to put incentives on the car they should use it to add back the features that they had to remove from the 6th Gen Camrys like plasma cluster, all automatic up/down windows, rear reclining seats, etc. The Camry currently is really falling behind in the "features" department.

More images to see

Impressive, but I'd have to see that grille in person to make a final judgement. Looks like an afterthought. Nothing to tie it in with the rest of the car. Maybe the body color should have been incorporated into it somehow. Of course that's just my personal opinion. Many of you will differ.

I painted some color onto the grill below and like it a lot more.

That little bit of paint on the grill makes it look way better hands down lol, still hate the plastic c pillar

You couldn't convince him to get a Camry like yours?

I think the thing that has most made Camry popular is reliability. Old guys like me get them because they are cheap daily drivers that seldom have problems. If I wanted style I'd get the Fusion, I'm dubious about Ford, GM, and Chrysler reliability from past experience.

If Camry loses the reliability ratings the sales will eventually drop, especially if the others move up in that area.

If Toyota was not near the top of reliability, I'd be driving something else that was.

I think young people are more likely to buy on style than older folks who have probably had a few lemons.

if you want a sale, you have to have some incentives to some degree. Just how much is up to the manufacturers. Toyota stayed #1 because they had to crank out incentives, because of all this competition.
The crazy incentives on our 2012 are one of the major reasons we bought one. To date, there's not that good of a deal from any other manufacturer on a midsizer. All said and done, TTL, everything else, our car squeaked in around 19K.

The 2014's will have a fantastic deal going to move them off lots...very soon. Just like they did with the 2013 Corolla's when the new ones came in (no one wanted those little crapboxes after seeing the new one!)

We have been shopping for a few month and back in 2013 (at least in RI) one could've gotten an accord or altima for less than a camry and used altimas are cheaper than dirt.
19K is unbelievably low price for a brand new camry, unless you got L or lost on trade in.

I agree they will go cvt.. but I drove the 2014 corolla and I honestly couldn't tell the difference from automatic and cvt.. and toyota come on make a car for us still in our 20 's lol... hopefully this one won't have that acceleration problem..

What Toyota should do, is revised the interior, cut out any old flaws and offer a race spec'd sport model. I wouldn't focus too much on looks, seems like the new generation youngster know that beauty is only skin deep lol

Consider all the negative comparison test, Toyota should throw out a tweaked Camry to shut these idiots up.

Absolutely agree on revising the interior, eliminate the two-tone seating materials with better leather seating materials and design, improve and update the dash and NAV. Wouldn't be surprised to see LED running lights on the XLE as most car makers are making standard on high trim models, and turn signal indicators on the outside mirrors.

Yours is a gear driven CVT and you got two motors –no jerking, no delays, no rubber band effect, no “you need a new tranny” by 60K miles. :)
We are afraid that Yoda going to throw a belt driven CVT into the Camry, same sh..t they put into an Altima and Accord just to boost MPG EPA numbers.

these days you can get almost any car for below invoice. my boss got 2014 GL for $1500 below invoice even though there is a waiting line on them. "below invoice" is a great selling/closing tool and work like a charm every time.
there is a huge difference between real facts and "yellow publicity".
but you are free to believe in anything you want.

#52 ·
Mercedes GL? It's a YMMV.

Many Camry owners here got theirs below invoice, so you know that the discounting is going on.

No idea what your "yellow publicity" means, but when legitimate automotive news sources like Automotive News and Ward's say that Toyota is concerned, I doubt they have much to lie about than CNN or TMZ...everyone who works at Toyota (and the industry) has a subscription to Automotive News.

I bought both cars of my current cars below invoice pricing.

However, in helping some friends walk through all the paperwork to purchase a 2014 Accord LX...the price was most definitely $800 more than the best deal we could get them down to on a Camry LE. That's shopping around at like 4 Honda dealers...and only 2 Toyota dealers. The Honda dealers just did not want to move on the price very much...the car is selling that well for them. I think I read somewhere that the Accord beat the Camry last month in sales numbers if Toyota's fleet sales were taken out of the equation.

Haven't looked too closely at the bargain-basement models of anything else. Wouldn't surprise me if a Fusion S came close, but it's missing a crap ton of features as a base model. The nicely-equipped Fusions run around $20.5-23K (internet specials, discounts, etc) before TTL.

#68 ·
don't know about Fuision, but in RI a base-base Accord LX can be purchased for $700-800 less than a Camry LE with no p.seat and a base Altima 2.5 can be purchased for $18000 + TTL.
There is one interesting thing I've noticed about Honda dealers; they don't want to sell base-base models, all their base LX's are "loaded with dealer installed crap and want additional $600-700 for the stuff that worth $200 at the most, but Altimas 2.5 and Camrys L and LE can be purchased with no additional options.

2014 Ford Fusion 1.5l Turbo engine: Made in ROMANIA. The worst thing the Ford salesman did was open the hood when I test drove it. If that's not reason enough to buy a domestic automobile, I don't know what is...

Fact: The Camry is more "American" than the Fusion.

Ford F-150 & Camry - top domestic content

**************
Most Americans seem too dumb to comprehend that American brand does not equal American made. Cars.com runs an extensive list .... here is the most recent top ten:

http://www.cars.com/go/advice/Story.jsp?section=top&subject=ami

No Ford passenger cars are on the list. Avalon, Sienna, & Honda Odessy are !!!!!!!

The net profit margin of domestically produced cars by foreign automakers is small ... and even that does not make it back to the foreign parent company until the cash is repatriated in the form of dividends. But when your Fusion is built in Mexico with forieign parts, it sure doesn't create too many manufacturing jobs for US citizens.

If anything, I wish the Camry we get was still made in Japan, but the global market says otherwise. I wouldn't be surprised if Toyota adds more production to Mexico. They already build the Tacoma, and it would be a ripe ground to build the Yaris.
