Hi fellow 2019 Corolla Hatchback owners, do you notice that the projector spread is uneven at the furthest point that the light can reach?
For a lack of a better description, it's not a straight cutoff, in which there's some dark spots along the light wave length.

Tried adjusting the pattern as from the factory its already pointed low.; but it worsens, too high you get flashed 1” higher as much as you go because quite literally its a dark middle shadow, i dont see any horizontal to try to remedy, brought to dealer and they said it is within spec but I feel they are wrong, brought twice, might get fog lights to fill the void

With shorter days, I notice the pattern too, and this is normal pattern per intent. The RH of the road is illuminated more and LH less so to provide more light on the edge of the road and less distraction to the oncoming traffic :geek:

I read an article some time back about how modern headlight are more about style than function & are a lot worse at lighting the roadways than headlights used before the projector & LED days. Sort of sad when you think about it. Plus, a lot of modern headlights are annoying and/or painful to look at when you are coming towards them at night from the opposite direction.

On my daily commute I drive a fair bit on unlit side roads and I like the HB's lighting. My former ride '07 ES had HIDs and these LEDs outperform the HIDs on the ES...

The projector cutoff is by design. It's not a tradional cutoff like ones most of us are used to from HIDs and HID retrofits.

The dip in the middle is just like the traditional step, its so it doesn't blind oncoming drivers. But in the Corolla it comes back up to give more light on the oncoming side roadway. The one to the right comes back up to give more light to the driverside of the roadway.

Withing the same class of cars, HB and Sedan got second overall highest ratings, second to PLUS. In headlight category, the only cars that outperform it got G=good rating vs Corolla's A=acceptable are top grades of Elantra, Insight and Impreza. All others, including non-Limited grades of Elantra, Insight, Impreza, Golf GTI, etc. either performed the same as Corolla or worse (got A=acceptable down to P=poor ratings):

Yes and no. Modern lightning is objectively superior to former sealed beam. LED has the potential to meet to meet the IHHS top criterias, not halogen... But some designs - not all - end up worst than halogen in IHHS testing. The 12th gen Corolla LED even manage to get a lower rating than those from the 11th gen...
Not true, they both got the same A=acceptable rating and they performed exactly the same, 11th gen on the left, 12th gen sedan on the right:

And the HB had identical results to the two above:

IMO the lights are aimed too low, which could be the reason why the score is what it is. The 11th gen lights seem aimed much, much higher compared to 12th gen from what I see in town.

Coming from a HID retrofit and stock headlights on my Matrix and Hella E-Codes with Osram bulbs on my MR2 the 12th gen headlights blows them out of the water. The first time I drove it at night I was amazed how wide the beam spread is, much wider than what my previous cars had.
