Broken Ground Wire?

Discovered this broken wire yesterday:

314119

I believe it's a ground wire. Will replacing it require a battery disconnect?
How might I get a part number for this? How difficult would it be to make a
replacement? What information would I need about the wire composition
and thickness? Thanks!

I'd just repair the existing wire. You can easily solder a new connector (or, perhaps, even reuse the existing one and solder to it) on to the end of that wire.

Since you'd take the whole thing off the car, and this looks like one of the "one of many" ground straps, I would not worry about disconnecting the battery when removing it or putting it back.

Or, as Mr. George has suggested, simply by a replacement ground strap of your choosing. There's nothing particularly special about any of them.

Yes that’s ground wire. Yes disconnect-battery.

Don’t have PN. Easy if your skilled enough to salvage the ring terminal on the bracket.

Start on the ring terminal and open up the grasps to remove old wires. Then cut and crimp the original wire back on the terminal and your done. It’s easier to remove the two bolts for convenience.

You might have an issue with the wire length later in time as the engine moves independently of the chassis or frame. It’s just best to get a longer wire to compensate for the movement later on. If your motor mounts are broken, you will break the wire even faster than a blink of an eye. FYI.

Motor mounts are fine, but a little extra length sounds like a good idea. Thanks!

Installed the new ground strap this morning. I think it looks pretty cool. The strap is 8-inches long, about an inch longer than the wire that broke. The additional length should allow for less possible strain on the strap compared to the original wire, less chance for it to break.

The strap is an ACDelco EGS8 Professional Engine Ground Strap
