Clunking noise after putting in new strut assemblies (front)

So a week ago I replaced both front strut assemblies. Everything torqued to spec and it was a very straightforward job. Yesterday, I started hearing a clunking noise from the front when driving very slow and then coming to complete stops (like in parking lots, pulling in the driveway, etc). The clunking only happens when I press the pedal all the way in and not gradually if that makes sense. Is it nothing to worry about because the strut assemblies are new and are "settling" in or is there something else at play here? Thanks

Rock the car left and right as hard as you can. If you hear clunking, sway bar links could the the issue. I've had the sway bar links sometimes loosen up causing a metal to metal clunk while driving.

You could disconnect the sway bar links on both sides and drive around trouble area to see if the noise persist. It should be OK for normal city driving to test it, but would avoid any high speed slalom with the links off. If it goes away, your struts are ok and it is the sway bar links.

Other problems could be the strut mount nut that holds the strut mount on the strut could be a little loose. Keep in mind that by re torquing this nut, there's a warranty sticker on them that might void the warranty if these are complete struts.

Is it possible the mount point for the sway bar links is different on the Moog struts? Some aftermarket struts have multiple link mount points for different models they fit. Different aftermarket struts might use different holes on different models. Some aftermarket struts might have holes (like for ABS clips) that are completely inapplicable to some years vehicles.

Specifically are the links are rubbing against the chassis? You have to look/feel after you've lowered the car back on its wheels, you wouldn't see this problem while the car was on the lift.

Regarding the new Moog links you ordered - those have grease zerks that extend out a little further than the originals (which had no zerks) and they themselves might be even more likely to rub against something.

no, the links don't seem to rub against anything as they are still original ones, i haven't replaced them yet. i did not order Moog sway bar links specifically due to the fact that they have those nipples. i got the Proforged ones that are completely sealed. the Moog strut assemblies look exactly like the OEM ones with the same spots to mount the links. i spoke with my mechanic today and he said that the issue might be likely to the fact that the spring retention nut up at the top of the strut mount (the one in the center) might not be tightened all the way at the factory and could cause the noise. he said to try to tighten that up if its loose.
