High coolant temperature warning light

I have a 2020 Highlander XLE, 30k miles, and had it in for the recall (fuel indicator or something like that) last week. Since having it in for the recall fix, I have gotten a "High Coolant Temperature" warning light twice while idling. Temperature outside both times has been 65 degrees F.

This isn't just the little icon lighting up, this message takes over my dash screen telling me to get somewhere safe.

Could this be something related to the recall fix? Has anyone else experienced this? Thanks in advance.

^ This. It immediately reminds me of another post on this subject. To do the computer update for the recall, the instructions advise to unplug the radiator fan so that it's not running the whole time the update is happening because it could cause fluctuations in battery voltage. But then the tech has to plug the fan back in when they're done. Already another member here found out the hard way that they forgot to plug the fan back in.

Here's the diagram for the fan plug from the instructions for the recall. You may be able to check your car yourself and save another trip to the dealer.

Exactly.

This should now require the shop foreskin to check every HL before it leaves. That ought cause a lot grief….

Geez, as I stated the last time this came up, why do we need to be QC???

Again the dealer and tech get paid and costs the owner time including a possibly damaged engine. Outstanding!
