Buy a truck.

 

Not a chance. This is one of the hardest things on a truck. Buy an ATV or a truck.

 

It would probably mess up the car the first time you hit something frozen that didn't want to move.

Plowing isn't even good for a pickup truck if you want the truck to last a long time.

 

I recommend a Dodge Ram 3500 Mega Cab Long Bed Turbo Diesel Dually

 

Maneuvering it to put the pile of snow where you want it is more trouble than it's worth. Just get a snowblower.

 

You are asking for trouble if you try, do as the others have said.

 

Leaving aside the wear-and-tear concerns, doesn't the hybrid use only electric power (not gas engine) in reverse? That would really limit its usefulness at plowing that way I would think?

 

^This, it does. Not a good idea in hybird.

 

Yeah like everyone has said, not a good idea and here's another negative, driving only in reverse will be overheating the engine real quickly with no air to cool things off through the radiator.

 

Looks miserable to use.

For $1300 you can get an old truck with a plow that's ready to go if you are patient.

 

Anyone use their Highlander to plow snow???
I've been looking at SNOWSPORT Personal Snow Plow | Aluminum Snowplow | Truck Plows Lineup and considering buying one of their plows that easily attach to a 2 inch tow receiver. I wonder if reversing in a Highlander Hybrid with pushing lots of snow would mess up the car

For the price of it, buy a snowblower. Even if plowing wouldn’t damage your Highlander, good luck plowing in reverse and pushing the snow where you want it to go (think about clipping your front bumper on an icy snow bank). Another thing to consider, in a lot of cities it’s illegal to push snow onto the street or across the street/off your properly.
