People now seem to buy cars like they buy toilet paper. This is the second most expensive purchase most people will make and something that you will be using daily for years and they don't take the time to test drive it.
When I buy any vehicle I know more about it than the salesman. I will read the forums to see what owners are saying, watch YouTube reviews and read the downloadable owner's manual to see how the features work and the maintenance requirements. Most of all I take a long test drive of the car I plan to purchase.
When I bought the Camry I test drove an LE and the SE to see which one I preferred. I chose the SE because it handles better and I like the look of it better. Since I bought it used I also checked for accident damage, oil quantity and quality, air filter and for leaks. I got the Camry because I my other car was totaled so no choice when I bought it but I usually buy vehicles in the summer. I live in the south so A/C performance is a high priority and can be a deal breaker if it's weak. If you live in the north I suggest buying in the middle of winter to see how the heat and defrosters work.
Also, don't let salesman push you into certain vehicles. My salesman was pushing V6 models probably as a youngish man I would be interested in the power and speed of the V6. Normally he would be right but the Camry is my daily work car so I wanted a 4 cylinder only. I drive about 90 miles round trip everyday so fuel economy and low maintenance costs were more important.
