Battery drains if I leave any internal light on

I have a 2012 Highlander Limited and were having problems with the battery. If we leave any internal light on, the car won't start and needs a jump. We've replaced the battery twice and the garage that did it is telling me there is no way a small interior light should drain the battery every time. We have little kids and they turn the light on and of course I forget to check. Is this normal for a battery to drain like that? Should I bring it in to Toyota? Thanks.

LOL You have some options..
1) Learn to discipline your kids so they don't do that BS.
OR
2) You can try to replace the interior lights with LEDs so they have lower load when left on
OR
3) You can get a device that goes on your battery and disconnects the battery when it detects long term drain.
OR
4) You can check your vehicle at night before bed to ensure the lights are off.

I personally did option 1 and that worked for me :)

LOL. Yeah, interior lights can drain the battery if you leave them on for an extended period of time (like 24 hours). Should be okay if it was only 5-6 hours though. I've realized once or twice after 5-6 hours and shut them off and the battery was fine.

The question no one asked is whether the alternator was charging the battery fully. It could be that the battery is not getting a sufficient charge and the lights being on use up the partial charge. Have the alternator checked at autozone.
